Job Description

Elbit Systems of America is a leading provider of high-performance products and system solutions for defense, homeland security, commercial aviation, and medical instrumentation markets. As a Manufacturing Engineering Technician, you will be working primarily on the ROEM program, specializing in assembling mechanical systems and integration, including large mechanical assembly and test, tooling, fixtures, jigs, lifting procedures, rigging, and various installation methods.

This role requires providing support for engineering prototype and development activities, as well as production manufacturing activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out specific technical assignments to solve manufacturing and assembly problems involved in product design and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for carrying out specific technical assignments to solve manufacturing and assembly problems involved in product design and development.
  2. Troubleshooting and integrating Elbit designs/assemblies onto land combat vehicles, including installing and troubleshooting electrical boxes, sensors, software issues, cabling, test stands, etc.
  3. Provide complex technical assistance in the design, development, testing, and modification of engineering prototypes.
  4. Direct activities and provide technical direction to less senior technicians in building, testing, and troubleshooting equipment.
  5. Research new materials, fabrication processes, equipment, tooling, etc. to improve manufacturing process.
  6. Assist manufacturing in transition from development into production.
  7. Prepare and review engineering specifications and procedures.
  8. Troubleshooting customer application problems.
  9. Works independently and closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineering to troubleshoot systems, parts tracking and ordering, modifying, manipulating, and configuring test setups that support engineering prototypes.
  10. Exercise specialized technical judgment in the substitution of parts and materials. Evaluate and select optimum alternatives.
  11. Develop or improve techniques to meet quality, function, and cost standards.
  12. Support, test, and help modify in the engineering of test stands and procedures necessary for testing upper and lower level assemblies.
  13. May act as technical representative, traveling to customer sites and/or tradeshows to advise and instruct in the installation, operation, and maintenance of Company-produced products.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a technical Associate's Degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering technologies or similar field and 6+ years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic electrical skills – reading schematics, understanding electrical components, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Basic software skills – read test script, interpret test results, troubleshoot test faults.
  • Work safely with common shop tools (pneumatic tools, power tools, saws, drills, presses, etc.).
  • Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and knowledge of standard hardware and mechanic equipment and tools.
  • Experience with military vehicles or other heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Candidate should be willing to travel up to 25%.
  • Able to obtain security clearance.
