Nurse Care Specialist

As a Staff Nurse at DESOTO HEALTHCARE, INC., you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering compassionate and individualized care, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the overall status of residents and document in the medical record
- Monitor residents' activity and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and facility protocol
- Coordinate, prepare for, and assist with new admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Communicate with residents, family members, and healthcare professionals regarding resident status
- Take and record vital signs, administer medications and treatments, and document accordingly
- Schedule job assignments and duties for CNAs
- Take report at the beginning of the shift to receive an update on residents under care
- Be observant for changes in a resident's condition and notify the Supervisor, physician, and family
- Visit all residents at various times during the tour of duty
- Supervise and assist with feeding residents and administer tube feedings
- Order medications from the pharmacy as indicated
- Carry out all physician orders, including making out lab slips, x-ray requests, and MARs
- Provide routine nursing documentation as per established facility protocol
- Prepare residents for going on pass
- Answer the telephone properly
- Complete Incident/Accident Reports on all residents, employees, and visitors as needed
- Leave the nurse's station and medication cart clean and well-stocked for the oncoming shift
- Count controlled drugs at the beginning and end of the shift
- Report occupational exposure in accordance with established facility protocol
- Be knowledgeable about and promote resident rights
- Prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation in the elderly
- Promote a safe, clean environment in which residents may live
- Check the Twenty Four Hour Report daily to be aware of changes in residents' condition and/or plan of treatment
- Assist with 1YIDS+ and Total Care Plan meetings as indicated
- Any other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Nursing
Requirements
- Must be an L.P.N. or R.N. currently licensed and in good standing with the Mississippi Board of Nursing
