Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Mount View Assisted Living. As a key member of our Resident Care department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pass medications to assigned residents and monitor those participating in our self-medication program.
  2. Direct and monitor the personal care duties and procedures carried out by our Resident Assistants.
  3. Assist Resident Assistants with direct care of residents as needed.
  4. Report unusual symptoms, daily needs, and progress of residents to the Resident Care Manager.
  5. Follow the plan of care for each resident and monitor the performance of Resident Assistants in carrying out the appropriate aspects of the care plan.
  6. Ensure proper placement and use of medication stored by the facility, including the medication room refrigerator.
  7. Maintain accurate documentation regarding the provision of care to residents in the Case Notes, Medication Administration Records, and other required records.
  8. Assist in problem-solving related to staffing, supplies, and resident care during shifts.
  9. Ensure that resident care standards are maintained in the performance of duties, and that the rights of residents and preferences in care and treatment are respected.
  10. Perform first-aid services and complete Accident/Incident Reports as needed.
  11. Assist with service in the dining room for all meals, maintaining facility standards for service and customer focus techniques.
  12. Participate in Change-of-Shift Reports and ensure that care personnel of the next shift are brought up to date about the care and needs of residents.
  13. Attend staff meetings and required or preferred in-service training.
  14. Perform all job duties according to safety rules and practices required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
  15. Exhibit the highest level of customer service towards staff, residents, and visitors.

Requirements:

  • Credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse with a current State license required.
  • One-year nursing experience preferred; experience in geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Organizational skills and ability to supervise department staff effectively and work well with personnel of other departments required.
  • Ability to communicate well (verbally and in writing), utilize creative problem-solving, and handle problems diplomatically required.
  • Ability to relate well to geriatric residents; respectful and caring attitude towards residents required.
  • Physical stamina for constant activity required.

Supervision & Accountability: Resident Care Manager

Work Area & Conditions: Work throughout the building, subject to walking, bending, and lifting; direct communication with residents and their family members or visitors and physicians; desk work; and possible exposure to body fluids and infectious conditions of residents.
