The City of Westminster, CA is seeking an experienced Department Director to lead the Community Development Department. This key role involves providing administrative leadership and direction for the department, overseeing programs, services, and activities, including planning, building, and safety, and housing.

Job Summary:

A highly qualified candidate will have a strong background in community development, urban planning, and project administration, with excellent leadership and management skills. They will be responsible for developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal controls for the department and assigned program areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and professional leadership and direction for the department and the City.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal controls for the department and assigned program areas.
  • Oversee the department's programs, services, and activities, including planning, building, and safety, and housing.
  • Manage and participate in the development and administration of the department's annual budget.
  • Select, train, motivate, and direct department personnel.
  • Evaluate and review work for acceptability and conformance with department standards.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of management and/or administrative experience in community development, urban planning, and project administration.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment.
  • A.I.C.P. certification preferred.

Estimated Salary Range: $161,460.00 - $206,076.00 annually
