Enteral & Medical Supplies Branch Chief

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Program Consultant to serve as the consultant for the Medi-Cal fee-for-service pharmacy and Medi-Cal Rx programs' Enteral and Medical Supply Benefits Branch. As a key member of the Pharmacy Benefits Division, the successful candidate will provide professional advice and guidance to the Department's executive staff and other agencies on matters relating to the scope and quality of pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits under the Medi-Cal program.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmacy and medical supplies, with experience in interpreting and evaluating federal and state legislation related to pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits. They will also possess excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to draft, query, manipulate, understand, and explain claims and utilization trends and data points clearly and with cause and effect logic application.

Responsibilities:- Provide professional advice and guidance to the Department's executive staff and other agencies on matters relating to the scope and quality of pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits under the Medi-Cal program.
- Interpret and evaluate federal and state legislation related to pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits.
- Develop and implement policies and programs to improve the health and well-being of Californians.
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of pharmaceutical and medical supply benefits under the Medi-Cal program.
- CA Pharmacists License License.
- Experience working within the State of California as a state employed pharmacist.
- Prior experience working as a pharmaceutical consultant II.
- Prior management experience.
- Contract negotiation expertise, Federal and state medicaid DME and medical supplies device experience, contract oversight experience and contract management experience.
