We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Linux kernel team. As a key member of our engineering leadership, you will be responsible for guiding a distributed team of engineers in developing and maintaining the Ubuntu kernel.

About the Role:

  • Lead a global team of engineers in the development and maintenance of the Ubuntu kernel.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve kernel quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of core and specialized Ubuntu kernels.
  • Oversee commercial engagements that require custom kernel engineering.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in leading software development teams, preferably in the Linux kernel space.
  • Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals, concepts, and development principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a globally distributed team.
