Job Description

The Residential Counselor will provide personalized support to individuals in their homes, promoting independence, happiness, and success. This role involves helping clients develop new skills, forming meaningful relationships, and connecting them with community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in identifying and pursuing interests and hobbies, facilitating friendships and social connections.
  • Empower clients to make decisions, advocate for themselves, and become more independent in their daily lives.
  • Support clients with personal care tasks, including toileting, bathing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
  • Help clients complete daily living tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and managing finances.
  • Use adaptive equipment and safety measures to ensure clients' well-being.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs), including behavioral plans and medication management.
  • Implement Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) practices to create a supportive environment that respects clients' preferences and needs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients using preferred methods, including email, tablets, and letter boards.
  • Transport clients to community activities, appointments, and other destinations as needed.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • Knowledge of disability support principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent, and preference given to those with a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree. A valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and at least two years of driving experience are also required.

Salary

$45,000 - $60,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
