Job Summary:

The Outside Parts Sales Representative is responsible for soliciting parts sales from new and established customers in sales territories established by management. This role requires a strong understanding of the trucking industry and the ability to maintain market penetration as required by the Parts Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Solicit sales of trucks parts marketed by the Company to customers located within assigned territories.
  2. Complete all necessary paperwork for submission of parts orders and/or purchases. Assist purchasing clerk with necessary documentation for special orders.
  3. Assist customers with any problems that may arise in connection with the sale of parts, including returns and warranties.
  4. Maintain courteous and continuing relations with customer base and working knowledge of customers' base industries and equipment needs.
  5. Promote the sale of Kenworth trucks and service. Facilitate communications between customer and other departments.
  6. Maintain a superior level of knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry in general and Kenworth Trucks in particular. Attend training courses and seminars as required by the Parts Manager.
  7. Assist the Parts Manager with year-end inventory and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend English instructions and information.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • 3 years of sales experience in truck parts.
  • Ability to use computer systems, ten-key calculator, microfiche, and read vendor catalogs.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

This position involves both sedentary and other work. For part of the shift, the employee will work at a desk in an office setting, doing paperwork, typing, filing, and key entry on a Video Display Terminal. Extensive telephone and correspondence work is required on a daily basis. For part of the shift, the employee will stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach, moving about the dealership facility to communicate with managers, employees, and customers. Lifting of at least 50 pounds without assistance on a daily basis will be required. The employee will travel by car extensively within and outside the state on a daily basis. They will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and a variety of other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
