Job Description:
  • Under general direction, the successful candidate will monitor patients, support providers, and document procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure high-quality nursing care is continually delivered.
  • Implement innovative nursing practices to improve the facility.
  • Maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment.
  • Mentor/train other surgical staff, as needed.
  • Promote positive customer relations within the ASC.
  • Have working knowledge of all equipment and procedures.
  • Oversee safety surveillance and task-related responsibilities delegated to others.
  • Oversee infection control surveillance and task-related responsibilities delegated to others.
  • Maintain documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships among healthcare teams.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care.
  • Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and courtesy when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues.
  • FOLLOW SAFETY AND INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and nursing regulations and protocols.
  • Initiate time-outs before procedures and ensure correct patient, procedure, site, and side information.
  • Verify patient identification using two identifiers.
  • Document time-out information in the Procedure Safety Checklist.
  • Identify emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Administer regulatory policies, such as Joint Commission/AAAHC, CDC, State, etc.
  • Deploy, monitor, and ensure operational processes are integrated within quality programs.
  • Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA, Company, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist with supply ordering and provide clinical support for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Ensure history and physicals are complete on each patient before procedures.
  • Instruct individuals, families, and others on health education, disease prevention, and health improvement programs.
  • Oversee daily, quarterly, and annual binders/logs to ensure they are up-to-date.
  • Inform physicians of patient conditions before, during, and after procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between physicians and patients/patient families or support persons.
  • Maintain the role of patient advocate.
  • Ensure discharge instructions are provided to patients.
  • Ensure physicians have cleared patients for discharge prior to discharging them.
  • Assist in stocking and inventorying clinical areas.
  • Ensure applicable Surgery Center staff and guests wear radiation badges.
  • Maintain and store radiation safety equipment.
  • Conduct annual apron and thyroid shield inspections.
  • Conduct safety drills as required.
  • Conduct daily inventory of controlled substances and follow policies and procedures.
  • As assigned, ensure operation of medical and administrative equipment.
  • Order/request supplies as needed.
  • Check work email regularly throughout the workday.
  • Participate in and complete required trainings and in-services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
