Job Summary

The Business Development Representative - SMB will build a portfolio of small to medium-sized customers across North America, with opportunities to solicit any region and/or vertical in the continent.

This role is responsible for prospecting customers, actively selling ArcBest transportation services, and developing relationships with accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research new leads using customer databases and customer relationship management software
  • Prospect small to medium-sized customers through cold calling and email communication
  • Uncover customer needs while positioning all ArcBest services, including truckload, less-than-truckload, and managed transportation
  • Act as a consultant to customers to build and maintain customer relationships
  • Maximize operational efficiencies for customer shipments using transportation management software
  • Proactively identify issues and resolve problems to uphold ArcBest's commitment to service
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with carrier sales, yield management, and modal operations departments
  • Assist and oversee revenue collection process as needed
  • Effectively support teammates' accounts when necessary
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
  • Previous customer sales, operations, or service experience, preferred
  • Ability to multi-task with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to negotiate and reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet performance metrics
  • Confident decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Entrepreneurial, sales-minded, and coachable individual with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize and maximize workload to meet deadlines
  • Strong listening and communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to effectively connect and engage with customers
About the Team

The Business Development Representative - SMB will be a member of the ArcBest Sales team at the MoLo Solutions headquarters in Chicago, with a team focused on growth, customer service, and an inclusive work culture.

Hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.
