About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Finance Specialist to join our team at WSP. As a Project Finance Specialist, you will play a critical role in the financial management of our projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyze project costs and revenues, ensuring accurate profit and loss calculations and effective communication with project/program management.
  • Perform lifecycle project accounting, including creating project accounts in Oracle, tracking projects and budgets, and reconciling payables and receivables.
  • Partner with project managers and teams to establish project budgets, update budgets, and provide recommendations for contract modifications or budget changes.
  • Generate project financial reports, evaluating reports for items that need escalation to project managers.
  • Authorize access to project accounts and transfer expenses into and out of project-related accounts in compliance with established accounting practices.
  • Ensure quality control standards and procedures for generating accurate and precise project-related financial records.
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
  • Verify contract and change order characteristics, including reading and interpreting contract language, method of compensation, and subcontract/consultant terms.
  • Monitor key indicators for managing and analyzing problem projects.
About You

To be successful as a Project Finance Specialist at WSP, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or closely-related discipline (or demonstrated proven equivalent experience).
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in accounting, project contracts, and change management documents.
  • Working knowledge of project accounting principles, practices, and methods, and their application to project work-related issues.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to exercise sound independent judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions with financial implications to the company.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an accounting and non-accounting audience.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
