Job Overview

GLOTECH, Inc. is seeking a skilled Cabling Installation Specialist to support projects in various locations throughout the United States and OCONUS. This role is expected to be temporary, with a variable work schedule and duration based on project location.

  • Install, label, and test premise network cabling systems, including connections, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, Protective Distribution System (PDS) conduit, and associated hardware.
  • Update cable run sheets and other documentation as required.
  • Read and interpret system installation drawings and design packages, applying this knowledge to cabling installations.
  • Install LC, MTRJ, SC, and RJ45 connector termination and test fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Label cables and associated hardware according to standards and cable run sheets.
  • Install various types of cable tray, PDS, and EMT conduit up to 4 inches, with the ability to fusion splice fiber optic cable.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet project requirements.
  • Must be highly proficient in the installation and testing of premise cabling, connections, patch cords, patch panels, equipment enclosures/cabinets, cable tray, PDS conduit, and associated hardware.
  • Possess a demonstrated ability in reading and interpreting system installation drawings and design packages, applying this knowledge to the cabling installation while promoting a safe work environment and implementing safe work practices.
  • Must be proficient in the proper handling, installation, and testing of LC, MTRJ, SC, and RJ45 connector termination and testing of fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
  • Must be proficient in the installation of various types of cable tray, PDS, and EMT conduit up to 4 inches.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the installation of copper and fiber-optic cable plants is required.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
  • Must have the following required certifications:
    • Must be confined space certified for outside plant installations.
    • Permit-Required Confined Spaces Certification.
    • Forklift Certification.
    • Aerial and Scissor Lifts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Installer 1 (INST1), BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC), and BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF) certification are highly desirable.
