Optometrist Assistant

The estimated salary for this position is $22.80 - $29.64 per hour, based on the location in Aurora, CO.

This role assists eye care providers in the care of patients and flow of clinical activities, ensuring proper care and usage of medical instruments. Key responsibilities include:

1. Assisting with performing patient care under the direct supervision of an eye care provider, demonstrating proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies.
2. Performing basic ophthalmic testing procedures, diagnostic testing, administration of medications, and tasks delegated by the eye care provider.
3. Assisting with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of the provider.
4. Documenting patient information, providing education, and entering charges, while assisting with the flow of patient care.

• A minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
• Required licensure/certification includes Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is also required.
• A minimum of two years sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or ophthalmic internship experience.
