Overview of Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse Role

At St. David's Medical Center, we strive to provide exceptional care to our patients. As an Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

About the Position

The estimated salary for this role is around $85,000 annually, based on industry standards and location.

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care setting. A valid State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License is also required. Additionally, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy is necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate pre-op and post-op patient care
  • Obtain supplies, equipment, and medications needed for patient care
  • Prepare and monitor patients for surgeries and procedures
  • Administer medication and IV therapy
  • Receive and initiate physician orders
  • Provide pre-op and post-op patient teaching and emotional support
  • Evaluate patient discharge criteria and ensure all patients have met requirements
  • Complete patient follow-up calls post-procedure to assess patient care
