Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Technician Instructor to join our team at Navajo Technical University. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and clinical support to our students in the Veterinary Technology Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement curriculum for Veterinary Technology courses, ensuring alignment with AVMA accreditation standards and NTU degree requirements.
  • Provide direct instruction and clinical supervision to students, including laboratory and field experiences.
  • Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with Director and staff to develop and implement program assessments and evaluations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Current registration with the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine as a licensed Veterinary Technician.
  • Earned Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from an AVMA-accredited program.
  • Minimum of one year satisfactory clinical work experience in animal care and customer service.
  • Valid and clean state driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain confidentiality of privileged information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or Veterinary Science from an AVMA-accredited program or earned Master's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years satisfactory clinical work experience in animal care and customer service.
  • Minimum of two years satisfactory college or university teaching experience as a credentialed Veterinary Technician.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is generally performed in an office, classroom, laboratory, clinic, and outdoor environment.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, temperature variances, bodily fluids, and equipment with moving parts.
  • Evening and/or weekend work will be required.
