Patient Registration Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Patient Registration Specialist to contribute to the success of our healthcare organization at Optum. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and be proficient in entering patient information into our hospital system.

This is a full-time role with a variable schedule, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and rotating holidays. We offer comprehensive paid training, which will be conducted on-site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet visitors and patients in person or via phone/video conferencing
  • Enter and update patient demographic and financial information accurately
  • Obtain applications and forms, confirm signatures, and scan documents as needed
  • Provide patients with clear financial responsibility information and collect patient liabilities
  • Collaborate with partnering departments to ensure seamless patient encounters
  • Offer wayfinding instructions and assist with hospital information
  • Coordinate patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards efficiently
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher) required
  • At least 6 months of experience in an office setting, customer service, or phone support role
  • Basic proficiency with Windows applications
  • Able to work a full-time (36 hours/week) variable schedule
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings
