Job Summary:
Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at East Palestine Primary Care. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient interviews, take vital signs, and record medical information
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician
- Collect laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing
- Provide authorized prescription and drug refill information for pharmacies
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients
- Clean and sterilize instruments, and dispose of contaminated supplies
- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses
- Assist with patient exams, procedures, and treatments
- Document patient information, test results, and treatment plans
Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent certification
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education preferred
- 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical software
Working Conditions:
The Medical Assistant will work in a general office environment with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. May be exposed to high noise levels, bright lights, and physical altercations. May have periods of constant interruptions and prolonged periods of working alone.
Physical Requirements:
The Medical Assistant will be required to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, and bend. Must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and finger dexterity. Must be able to hear alarms, telephone, and audio recordings. Must have good color vision and depth perception.
