Combustion Turbine Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
Oglethorpe Power is seeking a highly skilled Combustion Turbine Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the performance, operations, and maintenance of simple-cycle combustion turbine technologies and generating assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize reliability, availability, and O&M costs while maintaining the highest standards in safety, environmental, and NERC electrical reliability.
- Perform operator rounds, troubleshooting, preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on plant systems/equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve dispatch orders and maintain effective communication with GSOC.
- Document and communicate operational or maintenance conditions and activities to ensure efficient and orderly transfer of information.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and complete required training to ensure personal compliance, safe work practices, operational excellence, and technical knowledge.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in engineering or related physical science preferred.
- At least six years of experience in operation or maintenance of an operating commercial power production facility, a large natural gas facility, or combustion turbine-driven naval vessel.
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving background.
- Ability to work in a team environment, effectively communicate orally and in writing, and possess independent decision-making capabilities.
Specialized Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, instrument, and mechanical systems for malfunctions.
- Ability to work on and around high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Ability to instruct others in the performance of testing, checkout, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Ability to provide technical direction and leadership to Assistant Combustion Turbine Technicians and contractors.
Working Conditions:
This position requires scheduled and call-out OT as plant operating and maintenance needs dictate. Production schedules require 24-hour coverage, rotating shift schedules are required.
