Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mortuary Operations Specialist to join our team at Service Corporation International. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to families and guests, while also ensuring the smooth operation of our mortuary services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Desk and Lobby Reception: Greet families, guests, and vendors in a professional and courteous manner, answering incoming calls and providing assistance as needed.
  • First Calls and Arrangements: Take initial calls, obtain embalming and removal permission, quote pricing, and schedule appointments.
  • Personal Belongings and Inventory: Receive deceased personal belongings from families, prompt them about special requests, and log items into our software system.
  • Customer Service and Support: Assist customers in person with arranging for disposition of remains, presenting cemetery products and service selections, finalizing contracts, paperwork, and payments.
  • Ceremonial Event Support: Assist with visitation room set-up, casket placement, casket viewing of deceased, floral arrangements, and other ceremonial events.
  • Administrative Tasks: Make deposits daily, prepare reports for the accounting department, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Customer Complaint Resolution: Act on customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolution.
  • Professional Development: Continuously strive to improve through education and experience, maintaining a continuous development plan and making steady progress toward skill enhancement.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least two (2) years of reception, hospitality, or customer service experience.
  • Skills: Basic PC skills with MSWord and Outlook, data entry into company software, cultural sensitivity, and tactfulness to interact with a variety of cultures and language barriers.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, handle emotional situations with professionalism, and lift up to approximately 50lbs.
Working Environment

Work mostly indoors and occasionally outdoors up to 40 hours per week, assisting with the arranging, coordination, and execution of ceremonial events for grieving families. The atmosphere can be heavy with grief and sad emotions, requiring the ability to work effectively in this environment and provide a high level of professional service to families.

Compensation

$20.00/hr - $22.00/hr, with exact compensation varying based on skills, experience, and location.
