Job Overview

The Certified Medical Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care at MUSC Community Physicians. Reporting to the Outpatient Clinic Manager, this individual will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform multifaceted activities that support a decentralized, patient-centered approach.

About the Role

  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $43,000 - $60,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed as a Certified Medical Support Specialist, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Certification through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or other recognized organizations.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or equivalent.
