Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team at Primoris Engineering in San Dimas, California. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for guiding project teams through the design and construction process, ensuring that electrical plans are adapted to meet budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

About the Role

  • Lead the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion, ensuring that they meet project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, Request for Qualifications (RFQ's), technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
  • Review electrical equipment vendor drawings, interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers.
  • Participate in developing project schedules, scopes, budgets, staffing plans, and construction plans.
  • Manage change orders effectively.
  • Apply expert knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
  • Apply knowledge and experience to complex projects, finding non-standard design solutions.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings for various projects and project-related data as required by project managers, verifying corrections are made using multiple CAD software.
  • Review construction administration, coordinating with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues, calculations, field inspections, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Lead field inspections, installations, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Built effective relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors, developing new business opportunities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction goals and expectations are met.
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts, identifying key pursuits.
  • Develop cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.
  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Report project performance.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the electrical engineering practice.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Adhere to QA/QC processes.
  • Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines.
  • Comply with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.
  • Ability to travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • 15-20 years of experience in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading discipline design for projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
  • Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000 annually, dependent on experience, qualifications, and competencies. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid company holidays, paid PTO, medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, short-term/long-term disability, and 401(k) with matching contributions.
