The salary for this position is estimated to be around $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. This competitive compensation package includes benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
**Job Description**
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Wildlife Animal Care Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care for a diverse range of animals, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Your duties will include:
- Providing nursing care and husbandry for hospitalized and quarantined animals
- Preparing medical and surgical procedures, including setting up and breaking down equipment
- Participating in medical and surgical care for all animals under the guidance of veterinary staff
- Performing laboratory procedures, including manual complete blood counts, fecal examinations, urinalyses, cytology, and serum biochemistries
- Conducting daily data entry, record-keeping, and filing
- Triage and providing emergency care for animals under the guidance of veterinary staff
**Required Skills and Qualifications**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of three years of full-time experience as a clinical veterinary technician
- Certification or eligibility for certification as a veterinary technician in Massachusetts and nationally
- Ability to work directly with dangerous animals, contagious diseases, and in hazardous conditions
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as well as outside in inclement weather when necessary
- Class A Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms and Class III driver's license, with ability to pass CORI screenings and random drug testing
