Job Summary

The LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a skilled Grant Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time, 6-month contract position that will be based at the client location in Seattle, WA.

This role involves managing the financial aspects of grants and contracts from various funding sources, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, proper allocation of grant funds, and accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with program managers, finance staff, and grantors to maintain transparent and efficient accounting processes for grant-funded activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Grant Financial Management
  • Prepare and maintain budgets for grant-funded programs, aligning them with grantor requirements.
  • Monitor and reconcile grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding agreements.
  • Track spending against grant budgets to avoid overages or underutilization of funds.
  • Process and record journal entries related to grant transactions.
  1. Reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for grantors in accordance with their specific guidelines.
  • Assist with the preparation of Single Audit schedules, if applicable.
  • Collaborate with program managers to ensure financial and programmatic reports align.
  1. Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Maintain documentation to support grant expenditures for auditing purposes.
  • Assist in drafting and implementing internal controls to safeguard grant funds.
  1. Grant Administration Support
  • Support grant proposal budgets by providing cost estimates and budget narratives.
  • Review grant agreements to understand financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Work with program teams to educate them on financial compliance and grant budget requirements.
  1. Audit Support
  • Prepare grant-related schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Address auditor inquiries related to grant funds and financial management.
  1. General Accounting Duties
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes as they relate to grants.
  • Participate in other accounting or financial analysis tasks as needed.

Qualifications
  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year managing grants or contracts.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit, governmental, or higher education grant accounting is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly as they apply to grant management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $30-$35 per hour, depending on experience.
