Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Sommelier to join our team at The St. Regis Longboat Key Resort. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional wine service to our guests, including wine pairing recommendations and wine list management.
Key Responsibilities- Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles with precision and attention to detail.
- Answer guest questions or concerns regarding the origin, vintage, and style of various wines.
- Update and maintain wine lists and MICROS systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Pair and suggest wines that will best complement menu items, enhancing the dining experience for our guests.
- Attend wine tastings and develop relationships with vendors to stay up-to-date on the latest wine trends and offerings.
- Request new wines and products to expand our wine offerings and stay competitive.
- Create and update wine lists to reflect changing wine trends and guest preferences.
- Design and implement wine promotions and incentive programs to drive sales and engagement.
- Monitor and replenish inventory of wine cellar, equipment, and glassware to ensure seamless service.
- Train and educate server and bartender staff on wine knowledge and service standards.
- Conduct vintage and BIN number checks to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
- Conduct staff wine tastings to educate and engage team members on wine knowledge and appreciation.
- Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly, prioritizing guest safety and well-being.
- Maintain accurate spill sheets to track and address any incidents or concerns.
- At least 2 years of related work experience in the wine and hospitality industry.
- Technical, trade, or vocational school degree or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with guests, colleagues, and vendors.
- Strong knowledge of wine, including wine regions, grape varieties, and wine styles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on providing exceptional guest service.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
