Job Summary:

This position plays a vital role in administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by physicians, emphasizing specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, understanding hemodynamic monitoring, and teaching/training.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver Respiratory Care procedures competently, adhering to department policy and procedure manual.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of Respiratory Care procedures per department policy and procedures.
  • Verify Respiratory Care physician orders, initial, date, and time order after verification.
  • Receive and give accurate reports, updating patient profile cards to reflect current clinical status.
  • Attend department in-services, meetings, patient care rounds, and mandatory hospital meetings.
  • Keep Supervisors informed of changes in workload and patient acuity.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a Graduate degree from a two-year AMA-approved School for Respiratory Care, with a passing score on the NBRC entry-level examination. Additionally, they must hold a Current Oregon State Respiratory Care license, AHA BLS certification, and acquire AHA ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications within three months of hire.
