Job Summary

The Education Technology Specialist position at William James College is a vital role that requires a strong understanding of educational technology and its application in academic settings. This individual will provide support, training, and evaluation of education technology tools to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring seamless integration and effective use of these tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational technology support and training to faculty, staff, and students, maintaining a high level of customer service and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Manage student enrollment in the learning management system (LMS) for academic courses, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Maintain the student educational technology onboarding process, including growth and development of online LMS onboarding courses, to enhance user experience and facilitate adoption.
  • Support faculty onboarding process related to educational technology tools and courses, providing guidance and resources to ensure successful implementation.
  • Provide LMS support for Continuing Education online courses, ensuring smooth operation and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Contribute to the creation, organization, and use of our document library and training materials, promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary support for video-centric e-learning and web conferencing tools, ensuring seamless operation and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Manage quality assurance of the functionality of course offerings through the LMS, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Document and analyze the operations, effectiveness, and feedback of Educational Technology programs, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Answer support tickets regarding education technology, responding promptly and professionally to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Be an administrator to all educational technology tools, applying experience and training to maintain the operation of assigned systems and ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in the implementation and transition to new education technology vendors, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and effective use.
  • Edit videos for courses as assigned, enhancing visual content and engaging learners.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, researching and evaluating new educational technology tools that might be useful for WJC, to inform strategic decisions and improve services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Educational/Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or related field preferred.
  • High level of professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm, with a passion for technology in education and its impact on higher education.
  • Patient and effective in 1-on-1 and small group consultations/trainings with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, managing competing demands and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to work well under time pressure and meet deadlines, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, web-based collaboration tools, video creation tools, and web conferencing tools.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) preferred.
  • Some familiarity with project management methods preferred.
  • Applicant must be able to assume employment in the U.S. without College sponsorship.

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package, including generous health, vision, and dental insurance, eligibility for both College-funded 401(a) retirement plan and Employer-sponsored 403(b) plan, company-paid life and long-term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, generous PTO, and professional development opportunities, is also offered.
