With businesses covering R&D, manufacturing, and sales in battery systems for new energy vehicles and energy storage systems, we strive to deliver cutting-edge solutions for global new energy applications.

We are expanding our operations in the United States with a new mega-site manufacturing project in Michigan. As part of our commitment to increasing domestic manufacturing and adopting innovative techniques, we require a seasoned professional to spearhead our EHS efforts.

The ideal candidate will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures, ensuring effective safety operations within the organization. This role demands excellent management skills, ability to work under pressure, and a minimum of 8 years of EHS experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead the creation of site-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement corrective actions, ensuring regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate EHS considerations into planning, design, and operations.
  • Participate in the safety management of the plant (design, construction, and acceptance) and equipment (development, design, and acceptance) throughout their lifecycle, guaranteeing adherence to standards and regulations.
  • Manage all relevant permits connected to EHS areas, including obtaining, maintaining, changing, and renewing them as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit reports required by law and permits, facilitating official communication with relevant authorities.
  • Oversee annual EHS budgets, ensuring adequate resources for initiatives and projects.
  • Establish and maintain a strong Safety culture, leading and attending EHS committee meetings.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices, fostering a culture of safety awareness.
  • Develop and implement procedures for emergency management and crisis management, including scenario planning and drills.
  • Respond to environmental, safety complaints, and emergency situations, investigating incidents, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Other EHS tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety, or Environmental Science is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of EHS management experience, preferably in Process Safety Management for general industry and construction.
  • Proficiency in relevant laws and regulations, national standards, and mandatory regulations related to safety, fire protection, environmental protection, and occupational health.
  • Experience in developing and implementing EHS management systems, such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001.
  • Professional certifications like CSP, CIH, CHMM are advantageous.
  • Experience managing various EHS permits.
  • Background in EHS management in new energy-related enterprises is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software applications.
