About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys in all phases of the litigation process.

Responsibilities

  • Support Attorneys: Assist attorneys in managing caseloads, ensuring deadlines and key milestones are met throughout all phases of litigation. Prepare, draft, and organize legal documents, including complaints, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and deposition summaries. Review and analyze documents for relevance and completeness.
  • Discovery Process Management: Manage the discovery process, including preparation of discovery requests, responses, and documents for production. Assist in preparing and organizing documents for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Court Document Filing: Prepare and file court documents, including electronic filing (e-filing) with local, state, and federal courts. Ensure all documents are properly formatted and filed within court deadlines.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, and case law as directed by attorneys. Analyze and summarize findings for incorporation into legal arguments.
  • Trial Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and trials. Prepare trial notebooks, exhibits, witness lists, and other trial materials. Attend trials as needed to assist attorneys during proceedings.
  • Liaison Services: Serve as a liaison between clients, attorneys, experts, and opposing counsel. Prepare client correspondence and keep clients informed about the progress of their cases.
  • Case File Management: Maintain and organize both electronic and physical case files. Ensure files are up-to-date and compliant with the firm's document retention policies.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and assisting with billing and timekeeping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, preferably within insurance defense.
  • Familiarity with the litigation lifecycle, including pre-litigation investigation, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and post-trial activities.
  • Proficiency with legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis), case management software (e.g., Relativity, Clio), and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong ability to handle complex documents and tasks with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and opposing counsel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other paralegals in a team-oriented setting.
