Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Excavation Laborer to join our team at Forgen. As a key member of our geotechnical construction services team, you will be responsible for executing general construction laborer duties, including excavation and hand excavation of contaminated soils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with excavation and/or hand excavation of contaminated soils.
  • Perform numerous manual duties, including operating manual and mechanical clearing equipment, operating a power washer, directing traffic, general housekeeping, fueling equipment, and other general construction tasks.
  • Read and comply with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) accompanying all chemicals present at the hazardous waste site.
  • Execute tasks from detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Use hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
  • Read and comply with safety plans, rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, MSDS's, warning tags, traffic signs, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Zero plus year of construction laborer experience for Laborer 1, two plus years for Laborer 2, and five plus years for Laborer 3.
  • Valid Driver's License preferred.
  • TWIC card holder preferred.
  • Preferred safety training includes 40 Hour HAZWOPER training, Competent Person Safety Training, 8-Hour Supervisory Training, 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training, and First Aid and CPR.

Work Environment:

The Excavation Laborer will work in a job site environment, including machines, tools, heavy equipment, chemicals, solvents, dust, fumes, noise, toxic materials, waste, and infectious materials. The position requires occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions and the ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
