At MAK Construction LLC, we are seeking a skilled Construction Cost Estimator and Project Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with 1-3 years of experience in construction estimating and project management.

About the Role

This position involves assessing project costs accurately and comprehensively. You will analyze project requirements, evaluate materials and labor costs, and prepare detailed cost estimates. Your estimations will guide project planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes, contributing to the successful execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and relevant documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints of each project.
  • Cost Estimation: Calculate and analyze costs of materials, equipment, labor, and other resources required for construction projects. Utilize industry-standard cost estimation techniques, databases, and software tools.
  • Takeoffs and Quantities: Perform quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings or models to determine the required quantities of materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain accurate pricing, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely availability of materials and services.
  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate and compare various quotes, bids, and proposals from vendors and subcontractors to select the most cost-effective options without compromising quality or project specifications.
  • Budget Preparation: Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop comprehensive project budgets, ensuring that all estimated costs are accounted for.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed cost estimates, reports, and supporting documentation, and maintain accurate records of all estimates, changes, and communications throughout the estimation process.
  • Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards, and propose alternatives or cost-saving measures.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks, uncertainties, and contingencies related to project costs, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including architects, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure accurate and timely cost estimates.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in construction cost estimation techniques, software tools, and industry-standard databases.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including spreadsheets, estimating software, and project management tools.
