About the Role

At ResCare Community Living, we are seeking a compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in providing support to individuals with intellectual, developmental or cognitive disabilities, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.

What You Will Do

As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing personal care tasks, such as feeding, ambulation, and medical monitoring, to ensure our clients' physical and emotional well-being.
  • Assisting individuals served in fostering positive relationships with their housemates, promoting social interaction and a sense of community.
  • Maintaining a safe environment by ensuring client safety and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents.
  • Encouraging self-help activities, such as independent living skills, to empower our clients to take control of their daily lives.
  • Accompanying clients to scheduled appointments, providing transportation and support when needed.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • The ability to work in a group home setting, providing support to individuals with varying needs.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with all levels of personnel, internal and external.
