About the Role

UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in an Ambulatory Pediatric Clinic setting. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and collaborating with physicians and other staff members to ensure optimal health outcomes.

You will be expected to establish authentic personalized relationships with patients and their support systems, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote optimal health.

Patient Care Responsibilities
  • You will independently assess, monitor, prioritize, coordinate, and implement plans of care for patients.
  • You will conduct comprehensive assessments, initial and ongoing, to identify patients' needs and develop effective care strategies.
  • You will initiate, administer, and titrate both routine and complex medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • You will provide education to patients about their care plans, ensuring they understand their treatment options and can make informed decisions.
  • You will delegate appropriate tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Unlicensed Personnel (ULPs), promoting efficient and safe care delivery.
  • You will handle and administer hazardous medications according to established protocols.
Communication and Teamwork
  • You will communicate effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, medical providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • You will convey information accurately to physicians, nurses, and other team members, listen to and respond to the needs and concerns of patients and colleagues.
  • You will utilize appropriate communication tools, such as Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation, and Question (SBARQ), when communicating within the team.
  • You will document relevant information in a timely manner to ensure seamless care coordination.
Nursing Practice
  • You will practice nursing within the boundaries of regulations governing the practice of nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • You will engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to stay current with advancements and best practices in ambulatory care.
  • You will possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • You will contribute to the development of practice guiding resources, such as policies, procedures, guidelines, protocol orders, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A completion of a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • An applicable state RN license.
  • BLS certification.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocol. We offer a competitive salary range based on your qualifications and experience, but we estimate the annual salary for this role to be around $95,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and performance.

Work Environment

This role requires constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping. You will need to be proficient in communicative, auditory, and visual skills, with attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs may be required; please use Safe Handling Equipment for any weight over 35 lbs.
