Job Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Marine Geophysics Researcher to join our team at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa - School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $110,000 per year.

About the Job:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in marine geophysics, including active or passive seismology, electromagnetism, seafloor geodesy, and seafloor cables/DAS. They will also be expected to teach courses and supervise students, as well as serve on department and university committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in marine geophysics, including developing and implementing research projects, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing research findings
  • Teach courses in marine geophysics, including developing course materials, teaching lectures and labs, and evaluating student performance
  • Supervise students, including advising on research projects, providing mentorship, and evaluating student progress
  • Serve on department and university committees, including contributing to policy development, strategic planning, and decision-making

Requirements:

  • A doctorate from a college or university of recognized standing in a field relevant to the position
  • Expertise in marine geophysics research, including experience with active or passive seismology, electromagnetism, seafloor geodesy, or seafloor cables/DAS
  • Demonstrated ability as a teacher, including experience teaching courses in marine geophysics
  • Demonstrated scholarly achievement, including publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Ability to establish an extramural funded research program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of extramural research funding or leadership in major research programs in marine geophysics
  • Record of or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring, including creative approaches for enhancing student learning
  • Record of nationally or internationally recognized research accomplishments
