Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our team at Sharp Cable. As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic cables and related equipment. Your primary duties will include fusion splicing, terminating, and testing fiber optic cables to ensure efficient network performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fusion splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
  • Conduct OTDR testing and optical power meter testing.
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems in fiber optic networks.
  • Install and maintain fiber optic cables underground and overhead.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations.
  • Document and report completed work and any issues encountered.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other team members to complete projects on time.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Fiber Splicer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber optic cable termination.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic industry standards and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber optic design schematics and maps.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in various outdoor conditions.
  • Certification in fiber optic splicing (preferred).
