A Probation Officer with the County of Clarion plays a vital role in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of juvenile offenders into their communities. This position is responsible for providing professional social service and law enforcement duties to ensure public safety while promoting positive change.
About the Role
The Juvenile Probation Officer will supervise juveniles on probation, investigating alleged violations, counseling, and facilitating social adjustment through referrals to relevant agencies. The successful candidate will also develop case plans, evaluate progress, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, they will testify in court regarding noncompliance with probation terms, present evidence, and make recommendations for appropriate sanctioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Counsel and support juvenile offenders to achieve personal, social, and economic goals.
- Develop and implement individualized case plans based on risk and needs assessments.
- Conduct investigations, gather information, and prepare reports for court proceedings.
- Maintain accurate records, including chronological logs and case folders.
- Testify in court, presenting evidence and making recommendations for sanctions.
- Collaborate with local police, attorneys, community agencies, and school officials to ensure effective offender rehabilitation.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. A valid driver's license and Child Abuse History Certification are also required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate emotional stability, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Estimated Salary Range
$45,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
Work Environment
This position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential. Physical demands include the ability to react quickly in emergency situations and operate a motor vehicle safely.
