The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in ground-up commercial construction, preferably in a national or regional retail environment, and be able to manage multiple projects in various states. Excellent planning and communication skills are crucial for success in this position, including coordination with external vendor partners and internal teams to successfully open new stores on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee construction projects from conception to completion, prioritizing tasks and resources to meet competing timelines.
  • Determine project budgets, create job cost estimates, and forecast outcomes to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, third-party vendors, and internal teams to negotiate agreements, review bids, and manage project flow.
  • Apply value engineering principles to increase facility value and identify areas for improvement.
  • Order equipment and materials, working closely with internal support teams to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, tracking progress and analyzing outcomes to inform future decisions.
  • Avoid issues through proactive planning, resolve problems when they arise, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics, as well as knowledge of current building codes and regulations.
  • Skilled at performing miscellaneous construction tasks, such as pulling wire and staging equipment.
  • Experience working remotely with limited direct supervision, using Microsoft Office and construction management software packages.
  • Excellent writing, communication, project management, and interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
