Department Summary:

The Quantum Information Science, Optics and Imaging Department will provide innovative solutions to address new opportunities and challenges associated with emerging technologies.

We have a strong foundation of technical expertise across these technologies that our sponsors can draw upon to develop new capabilities and assess their vulnerabilities.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. Perform and lead research in quantum sensing, computing, networking, and related quantum technologies.
  2. Advise and educate our government sponsors on all aspects of quantum information technology and their potential applications.
  3. Develop technical benchmarks, metrics, roadmaps, and other frameworks to help our sponsors better understand, plan for, and engage with quantum technologies.
  4. Explore additional new or emerging technologies that may be of interest to The MITRE Corporation and our sponsors.
Basic Qualifications:

Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD plus 3 years of relevant experience.

Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.

Deep understanding and demonstrated research expertise in quantum computing, sensing, and/or communications.

The ability to manage and pursue new opportunities to meet sponsor requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers.

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Physics, Quantum Technologies, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience in growing, developing, and leading quantum information projects.

This requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s): None.

This requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s): Secret.
