Job Summary

The Benefits Account Manager position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong understanding of benefits regulations, and the ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned benefits team
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Address client concerns and ensure processes are fully implemented and audited
  • Provide mentoring and training to assigned benefits team
  • Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations
  • Coordinate daily benefit processing, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident, and death claims
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of premium fees for all group plans
  • Implement and maintain Group Benefits databases
  • Prepare regular benefit reports extracting data from the database
  • Analyze the current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs
  • Prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assessments
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package
  • Coordinate and manage benefit orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions
  • Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools, including PowerPoint and videos
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent work experience
  • Five years of benefits management experience required
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in benefits
  • Bilingual a plus
