Benefits Manager

Job SummaryThe Benefits Account Manager position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a strong understanding of benefits regulations, and the ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operations of the assigned benefits team
- Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
- Address client concerns and ensure processes are fully implemented and audited
- Provide mentoring and training to assigned benefits team
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations
- Coordinate daily benefit processing, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident, and death claims
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of premium fees for all group plans
- Implement and maintain Group Benefits databases
- Prepare regular benefit reports extracting data from the database
- Analyze the current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs
- Prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assessments
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package
- Coordinate and manage benefit orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions
- Create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools, including PowerPoint and videos
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent work experience
- Five years of benefits management experience required
- Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with the ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong desire to pursue a career in benefits
- Bilingual a plus
