Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Use Policy Coordinator to join our team at the County of Oconee.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a strong understanding of land use policies and regulations.

About the Job:
  • This role involves providing technical planning assistance to the development community, elected officials, and the general public regarding land use policies, regulations, and zoning.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining accurate knowledge of adopted codes and regulations, reviewing projects, and providing advice as needed.
  • This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide general zoning administration and presentations to public, elected, and appointed officials.
  2. Address and review citizen complaints and concerns.
  3. Coordinate and maintain development software for tracking projects.
  4. Review and approve development applications.
  5. Perform field inspections and zoning code enforcement, as assigned.
  6. Develop plans and policies regarding land use.
  7. Perform specialized administrative, clerical, or technical duties, including website maintenance and coordinating/maintaining development software for tracking projects.
  8. Attend staff, committee, and county council meetings, as required. Provide staff support to County Boards and Commissions.
  9. Prepare, type, copy, file, process, mail, and/or transmit various documents, such as forms, correspondence, memos, reports, purchase orders, meeting minutes, legal documents, notices, etc.
  10. Attend training, meetings, seminars, and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  11. Provide administrative support to the assigned supervisor, performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating meetings and appointments, compiling data for reports and studies, composing and/or preparing routine and confidential reports and correspondence.
  12. Receive and respond to inquiries, requests for assistance, and concerns from other County departments, agencies, organizations, professionals, and the public; assist supervisor in coordinating administrative functions activities with those of other departments and agencies as appropriate.
  13. Work on special projects, as needed.
  14. Serve as a member of various staff committees, as assigned.
  15. Review requests for proposals, as requested.
  16. Help organize and facilitate the design of applications and forms to be used by the developing community and general public in interaction with the Planning department.
  17. Assist with the development of grants with the assistance of other county departments.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

We require a High School Diploma or equivalent degree in a related field, and one (1) year of planning or related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Some college is preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this role is between $45,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
