Job Duties
  • Patrols are conducted to maintain order and enforce laws
  • Criminal investigations involve interviewing witnesses, victims, and suspects
  • Crime scenes are secured and processed to collect evidence
  • Arrests and charges are made against criminal suspects

To become a military police officer, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete the ASVAB test to understand your strengths and identify suitable Army jobs
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder

Job training for military police requires 20 weeks of One Station Unit Training and on-the-job instruction in police methods. You will learn basic warrior skills, use of firearms, military/civil laws, investigating and collecting evidence, traffic and crowd control, and arrest and restraint of suspects.

A successful military police officer should possess the following skills:

  • An interest in law enforcement and public safety
  • The ability to make quick decisions under pressure
  • The ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
