About the Role
">We are seeking an experienced Airport Environmental Consultant to join our team in Portland, Maine. This is a unique opportunity to work on exciting airport projects and support communities through transportation development.
">Job Summary
">- Lead or assist with environmental permitting, assessment, and compliance work related to federal and state agency requirements for aviation planning and development projects.
- Prepare NEPA documentation, including Environmental Assessments and Categorical Exclusions, for airport development and planning projects.
- Develop stormwater pollution prevention plans and delineate and characterize wetlands, including function and value assessments.
- Conduct natural community mapping, wildlife surveys, and habitat assessments, as well as collect data using GPS-Trimble technology.
- Present proposed projects and project updates to regulatory agencies, local planning boards, and conservation commissions.
- Inspect ongoing construction activities and provide resident project oversight for projects impacting protected resources and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and protect resources and mitigate impacts.
Requirements
">- Bachelor's degree in an environmental discipline, such as biology, ecology, or natural resources.
- Demonstrated academic and professional experience with plant, soil, and wetland identification and characterization in the New England region.
- A minimum of 15 years of related professional experience, preferably in aviation consulting.
- Strong technical writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Familiarity with HydroCAD stormwater modeling software and knowledge of state and federal permitting regulations and NEPA.
- Ability to work in the field in all weather conditions and drive safely, with occasional overnight travel required.
