Claims Management Director

Our ideal candidate will serve as a Claims Management Director, responsible for overseeing the internal claims mediation program, incoming lawsuits, and Third Party Claims Administrator (TPA) practices. This role is focused on managing quality and costs associated with bodily injury liability claims.
About the Position:
- This position requires strong leadership skills to manage day-to-day operations of a multiline claims unit, ensuring consistent application of departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
- The successful candidate will establish interface guidelines and communication channels between all parties, including the claims unit, TPA, Examiners, Store Management, and Associates.
- This role involves establishing claims handling standards and overseeing quality assurance programs for adherence to these standards.
- Oversight responsibility for all settlement and reserve requests up to $50,000 and direct authority for all settlements valued over $50,000 up to $100,000 are key aspects of this position.
- Reviews required written proposed settlement evaluations, forwarding them to the appropriate authority level within The Home Depot for approval.
- This role drives cost containment initiatives, including allocated expense control.
- Responsible for selecting, terminating, performing appraisals, and developing assigned staff.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position typically reports to a Director of Claims or Senior Manager of Claims.
- Accountable for direct supervision of work activities of others, including planning, monitoring, and reviewing the work of subordinates.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunities to move about.
- Rarely may be required to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area with occasional exposure to unpleasant conditions.
Compensation and Benefits:
- An estimated salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior litigation management experience, including knowledge of the court system nationwide.
- Multiline and multi-jurisdictional claims experience.
- Supervisory and management-level experience in the claims industry, including strong bodily injury general liability claims experience.
- High-dollar claims management.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Best practices file audit techniques.
- Successful negotiation skills.
- Proven ability for team management and strong leadership skills, including implementing efficient work processes, effective oral and written communication skills, and problem prevention, identification, and resolution.
Certifications and Competencies:
- Workers' Compensation certificate and Claims Adjuster License.
- In-depth knowledge of laws, acts, regulations, and systems governing claims.
- Superior interpersonal skills, including mentoring and guiding staff.
