Job Summary

The University of Pennsylvania seeks a highly skilled Labor Relations Specialist to join its Division of Human Resources. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive labor relations plan, as well as assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective staff relations program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive labor relations plan for the University.
  • Develop and implement effective staff relations programs, including performance management, grievance procedures, and workplace issue resolution.
  • Act as the University's 3rd step hearing officer and assist in preparation for arbitration hearings.
  • Counsel managers and supervisors on proper discipline and procedures, as well as provide guidance on University policies and procedures.
  • Advise management on restructuring and reorganization efforts, and assist in enhancing management practices.
Requirements
  • BA/BS required, MA/MS in Human Resource Management or Labor Relations preferred.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources/Labor Relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in labor relations, including acting as first chair in collective bargaining sessions.
  • Extensive knowledge of the NLRA and other federal and state labor and employment laws.
