Project Lead: Senior Designer

Architectural Design and Project Management Opportunity

The Archers is an esteemed architecture and design firm based in Downtown Los Angeles, California, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Designer to join its team. This role will play a pivotal part in delivering the studio's designs, working closely with the Creative Director to create an overarching concept and oversee its completion.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualise and develop designs in detail, working independently to generate ideas, conduct research, and provide design inspiration and input to the wider team.
  • Lead the production of scheduling documents, meeting documentation, and coordination of the wider project team to ensure projects meet established deadlines.
  • Manage purchasing schedules and budgets, create F, F&E, and finish specifications, and develop relationships with existing vendors and fabricators.
  • Provide wide oversight of projects, produce materials and systems needed to ensure clients are kept abreast of design progress, and serve as a point of contact for all client queries.
  • Coordinate contractor teams and sub-consultants as needed to ensure project scheduling targets and accurate communication of design intent.
  • Produce drawings sets in detail commensurate with each phase, including bid sets and construction documents, and be responsible for project specifications and schedules.

Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in Architecture/Interior Design in a similar role at a design firm.
  • Experience in commercial and high-end residential projects.
  • Proven track record of meeting scheduling deadlines, with the ability to seek out solutions to problems as they arise while maintaining progress.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of 3D modeling and drafting software (Autocad & Rhino).
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Knowledge of design requirements, construction methods, and materials for high-end environments – ideally with build experience in LA or/and New York.
  • Empathy for great design, strong visual skills, with attention to detail, composition, light, color, and form.
  • Calm, mature, and professional.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently while keeping the wider team informed of progress.
  • Analytical, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
