Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant - Ambulatory Care Specialist plays a vital role in our healthcare team, supporting Providers with patient care, administrative tasks, and clinical duties under their supervision. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills, who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare medical records for patient exams, obtain necessary reports and results, and document visit information.
  • Assist with gathering data for patient history and physical assessment, as well as support nurses and physicians with exams and procedures.
  • Take patient vital signs and measurements, documenting results in patient charts.
  • Maintain exam and treatment rooms, ensuring cleanliness and sanitization, and manage supplies inventory.
  • Collect specimens and prepare them for lab testing, communicating with lab personnel as needed.
  • Administer breathing treatments and injections, perform EKGs, and assist with NST machine tests, all as ordered by Providers.
  • Respond to phone calls, answering patient questions and requests, and provide teaching to patients and families within your scope of knowledge.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an approved Medical Assistant Program.
  • Experience in ambulatory care preferred; bilingual ability also preferred.
  • Valid Certified Medical Assistant certificate and BCLS certification required.
Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to infectious agents; lifting and transferring of patients, supplies, and equipment creates risk of injury.
