Speech Language Pathologist Role at Driscoll Children's Health System

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Driscoll Children's Health System. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch patient care services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders in pediatric patients.

About the Role:
  • Job Summary: Provide Speech Language Pathology services to patients of the Driscoll Children's Health System, assisting with coordination of specific departmental activities and/or services.
  • Main Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain confidentiality at all times and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  2. Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  3. Evaluate patient needs by selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate evaluation tools.
  4. Educate patient and family members regarding evaluation findings and recommendations/plan of care.
  5. Develop goals that are functional, developmentally appropriate, time-sensitive, and measurable.
  6. Comply with clinical documentation requirements and develop, instruct, and verify understanding of home programs as needed.
  7. Participate in patient care-related team meetings, departmental meetings, process improvement initiatives, and communicate effectively with referring physicians.
  8. Manage billable productivity levels, generate suggestions for improving work processes, and provide on-call/patient-care coverage when required.
  9. Deliver in-services within the department, hospital, professional, and lay communities, demonstrating evidence-based practice and computer/software application proficiency.
  10. Adhere to infection control responsibilities and assume care coordinator roles as needed.
  11. Occasionally drive for Driscoll Children's Hospital business or participate in community visits for patient benefit.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders, OR Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Current Texas Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist or current Texas licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist Intern, Current Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellow Status with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Current BLS certification.
Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, our benefits package includes health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
