The Medical Assistant - Patient Care Specialist will work directly with Southwest Center providers to deliver exceptional patient care and support services. This role requires a highly organized and self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for providing non-judgmental care to diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with patient scheduling, inventory management, and clinical operations to ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
- Communicate and record patient-related information, including vital signs, medical histories, and reason for visit, in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, manage specimens, and prepare specimens for laboratory processing.
- Provide HIV and STI education services to individuals at high-risk for HIV infection.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties, including processing referrals, medical records reconciliation, and completing prior authorizations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assisting training program completion preferred.
- 1+ year of experience working as a medical assistant.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
- Professional, flexible, and compassionate attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
- Cultural competency to serve diverse communities, including LGBTQIA2S+ individuals.
