System Software Engineer - Cloud Hosting Services

We are seeking a highly skilled System Software Engineer III to support the Naval Info Warfare Center Atlantic's Data Center and Cloud Hosting Services and Enterprise Systems.

The responsibilities of this position include:

· Ensuring seamless operation of interconnected systems through effective systems engineering or systems administration within cloud-based enterprise environments.

· Applying programming concepts and modern software development methodologies (Agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in professional and academic settings to design, develop, document, test, integrate, and modify operating systems and application software.

  • Developing, creating, troubleshooting, and modifying specialized utility programs and applications in support of real-time systems.
  • Performing hardware and software development planning in the incorporation of hardware and software modifications into aviation training systems.
  • Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
  • Documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
  • Create automated continuous monitoring of security of environments and uphold configuration and software baseline requirements.
  • Providing cybersecurity support for both unclassified and classified enclaves and NIPRNet, NMCI eDMZ architectures, and Cloud Hosted CSPs.
  • Ensuring Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert Management (IAVM), CTO, STIG compliance.
  • Maintaining security compliance for all applications and software by deploying tools and technologies that enhance automated reporting capabilities.
  • Providing vulnerability assessment scans to government team leads upon request.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Clearance: Minimum SECRET clearance

Education: Master's or Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems); and Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification.

Certifications:

  • At least one of the following: CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) or Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), or other certifications relevant to the role and as approved by the COR.
  • Plus: depending on PWS tasking, individual shall be certified as Information Assurance Management (IAM) or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) or Information Assurance System Architect and Engineer (IASAE) Level II or III (position-based).

Experience:

  • Ten years with Masters or 14 years with Bachelor's degree of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area.
  • Notable experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and modern software development methodologies (e.g., agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
  • Three years of cyber security focused experience in support of systems engineering or systems administration within an enterprise hosting environment in the cloud in support of multiple interconnected systems and enterprise managed services.

Estimated Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year based on qualifications and experience.
