About the Role

The MCVP - Health and Human Services Prevention VISTA position is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in preventing substance misuse among at-risk youth in Montana. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with prevention specialists across the state to develop and implement evidence-based programs.

About the Opportunity

This role offers a unique chance to join Americorps and contribute to the well-being of Montanans. You will be responsible for creating and implementing a community needs assessment focused on substance use prevention activities, risk and protective factors, and funding sources for prevention programs. Your findings will inform strategic partnerships and collaboration among stakeholders to prevent risky outcomes such as substance use and suicide.

You will also build capacity by developing increased communication channels, a sustainable plan for continuous prevention work, and a library of educational materials. Your expertise will help shape the future of prevention efforts in Montana.

What We Offer

This position comes with a competitive salary, estimated to be around $45,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, training opportunities, choice of education award or end-of-service stipend, relocation allowance, and living allowance. Childcare assistance may also be available if eligible.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess strong leadership, public health, and general skills, with experience in computers/technology, teamwork, writing/editing, and communications. A car is recommended for frequent travel, and permits working at another job during off-hours. Service areas include health, making this an ideal fit for those passionate about improving community health.
