Cardiology Department Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiology Department at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital provides high-quality patient care by performing various functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients scheduled for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress tests, echos, and chest pain observation patients.
The Nurse Practitioner works closely with the Cardiologist to provide consultation to in-patients, utilizing the processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare cardiology patients for invasive cardiac procedures, including cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology studies
- Evaluate and treat cardiac patients, obtaining consents and following patients post-cardiac catheterization
- Admit and discharge patients from the cardiology service
- Assist in growing the Cardiology line of services at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital
Requirements:
- Master's in Nursing Degree and completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program
- New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner
- Nurse Practitioner National Board Certification in specialty area
- Certification in specialty area
- Completion of a pharmacology component of not less than three (3) semester hours or the equivalent
- Previous experience relevant to the area of cardiology and prescriptive privileges in NYS
